As the month progressed, we kept ourselves busy preparing for our next philanthropy for Sigma Chi with our weekly volleyball and football practices. Boy, do we practice! We have a full team for volleyball and football and we look forward to our practices. Don't worry parents...we do stretch before and after so we don't call you for sprains. :)
Also, we celebrated our sisterhood with our annual Fall House Retreat coordinated by Desiree Slade. She planned an exciting overnight located up north (close to Anthem) where we enjoyed roasting s'mores over a warm bonfire, eating over 13 LARGE pizzas :), sharing memories and thoughts, and staying up late just because "we can". All in all, it was a perfect retreat away from the city where we were able to truly sit back and enjoy spending time with our sisters. Oh, we sure do love sleep overs...we will never be too old to have them!
Additionally, a couple of the sisters joined efforts by means of a dodgeball team for the benefit of Best Buddies. Best Buddies is an international organization that focuses its efforts to create one-to-one friendships with students and those who have intellectual disabilities. Furthermore, the Best Buddies Dodgeball Tournament specifically raised funds for the development of middle school Best Buddies programs. How incredible! We had a blast and enjoyed dancing with the buddies and cheering for every team. Additionally, the Best Buddies staff appreciated our enthusiasm for the organization and we are looking to have more dodgeball teams for future years!
Next up...HOMECOMING! If we could simply state our enjoyment during Homecoming it would be just this: INCREDIBLE! Our efforts were spearheaded by sister Clarissa Dodge and she planned for us a fun, unforgettable week with our brother fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. We began the week with yet another Dodgeball Tournament (by no we are PROS :)). We rallied a good fight for third place! Then, we entered in the banner contest with our amazing "juke box" made by Brooke Dolberg. Since the theme of Homecoming was "50 Years of Maroon & Gold", Brooke fashioned a jukebox with our very own timeline of Alpha Phi and SAE history at Arizona State. Overall, we had impressive ratings for the banner!

The week continued and we kept busy by helping the guys with float building. Additionally, we also had the attendance at the PAB "Big Bang Bash" where we enjoyed free food and mingling while listening to the infamous pianos from the Big Bang Bash (this is when we all were reminded how amazing college is :)). Furthermore, we enjoyed celebrating the oldest tradition at Arizona State with the Lantern Walk at A-Mountain. If you have never been up A-Mountain at night, we definitely recommend it...only with flashlights though! :) The grand finale of fireworks were unforgettable, not to mention with the great view of Tempe on the mountain top! Lastly, we had the great Homecoming celebration on Saturday afternoon where we had every brother of SAE and every sister of Alpha Phi present to "show off" our float and most importantly, show our Sun Devil spirit! There is no doubt that we enjoyed the entire week of festivities, Sun Devil spirit, BBQ's, and of course, the momentous time spent with our sisters!
We are sure that all of you are remembering your own Homecoming memories, so we won't tease you anymore. All in all, we are enjoying the rest of November with the upcoming Alpha Phi elections, community service opportunities, and of course, spending time with our families for Thanksgiving! We will surely keep you updated with the exciting outcomes for the 2008-2009 leadership of Alpha Phi and our holiday festivities before we head home for Winter Break.
As always, thanks so much for reading! Talk to you soon family and friends! :)
Sincerely,
Alpha Phi
